Gilman is Platinum
Sony Nashville says 12-year-old Billy Gilman's debut album, One Voice, has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipments of 1 million copies. According to Sony, that makes Gilman the youngest solo artist ever to accomplish that benchmark. The album's title cut debuted on the Billboard country singles chart in May, making Gilman the youngest artist to make an appearance on that chart and breaking a 43-year record held by Country Music Hall of Fame member Brenda Lee. Although the single peaked at No. 20, the album made it to No. 2 on Billboard's country album chart. Gilman appears today on the syndicated show Live with Regis.
