Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman Reveals Her Go-To Appetizer Recipe For The Holidays

Kimberly Schlapman shares how fans can impress their guests this Christmas with delectable bites.

Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman is cooking up a storm to prepare for the Holidays.

The GRAMMY Award-winning artist turned to social media Wednesday (Dec. 21) to reveal a mouthwatering recipe that is a crowd-pleaser at every festive affair – bacon-wrapped scallops.

With the proper ingredients prepared, the singer-songwriter filmed herself from inside her kitchen in her Tennessee home.

“Merry Christmas, everybody. Welcome to our house,” said Schlapman. “We have everything decorated here for Christmas. All the garland and the trees, all the fun stuff, and all the yummy goodies. I thought today we could make something – an appetizer. This is something you can take to a party at your friend’s house, you can take them to your neighbor’s house, you can serve them on Christmas morning or for brunch,” she noted.

The hitmaker declared that her take on the appetizer is far from basic, as she is placing a “sweet” twist. She said a dash of brown sugar mixed with black pepper on the meat is the key to success. While many foodies would contemplate using maple bacon for the dish, she recommends that the sugary seasoning would do just fine.

“The perfect appetizer for a party or the way to a seafood-lover’s heart: Bacon wrapped scallops! So yum🎄,” she said.

Although Schlapman walked her followers through each step in the tutorial-like video, she shared the full recipe in a lengthy caption on Instagram.

“24 center-cut bacon slices. 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar. 1 tsp freshly ground pepper 24 medium size sea scallops,” she explained. “ Wooden picks. Garnish of choice (chopped chives, parsley, or cayenne).”

The songstress continued to break down the process and how to get the temperature of the bacon just right to serve. Her secret tool to execute the sweet-and-savory treat – is a large skillet.

“Preheat the broiler with your oven rack 5 inches from heat. Cook bacon in a large skillet until it just begins to brown, then remove from heat and drain on paper towels. Combine brown sugar and pepper and coat 1 side of the bacon with the mixture,” said Schlapman. “Wrap 1 bacon slice around each scallop, placing the sugared side of bacon against the widest side of the scallop and rolling. Secure with toothpick.”

Once the scallops are broiled for two minutes on either side, she encouraged her fans to “garnish and serve.”

This is not the first holiday treat that Schlapman has shared with her devoted community. Just last week, the country powerhouse revealed one of her “family’s favorites” called “friendship tea” and a festive hot cocoa recipe.

Schlapman has never shied away from showing her jolly spirit during the holiday season. In 2020, the multi-platinum artist released a children’s book titled “Dolly For Christmas: The True Story of a Family’s Christmas Miracle.” Schlapman pulled from real-life experiences to pen the heartwarming tale that conveys the adoption process of her youngest child.
