2023 CMT Music Awards: Alanis Morissette and Gwen Stefani To Lead Epic Collaborations

Shania Twain will be honored with the CMT Equal Play Award.

The 2023 CMT Music Awards will bring iconic and out-of-genre girl power to its stage on Sunday with the new round of performers the network is adding to its star-studded lineup.

Rockers Alanis Morissette and Gwen Stefani will take the spotlight on Sunday for memorable performances in addition to the already announced stars, including Blake Shelton, Carly Pearce, Carrie Underwood, Cody Johnson, Jelly Roll, Kane Brown + Katelyn Brown, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, The Black Crowes + Darius Rucker, Tyler Hubbard and Wynonna + Ashley McBryde. Rising stars Avery Anna, Chapel Hart, Jackson Dean, Lily Rose, Megan Moroney and Nate Smith will perform from the Ram Trucks Side Stage.

Shania Twain will be honored with the CMT Equal Play Award.

Ballerini and Brown will return as hosts of the 2023 CMT Music Awards, which will air live from Austin, Texas' Moody Center on Sunday, April 2 (8:00–11:00 p.m., ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.*

Morissette will be joined by Ingrid Andress, Lainey Wilson, Madeline Edwards, and Morgan Wade to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the "CMT Next Women of Country" franchise with the female-empowerment anthem "You Oughta Know." Stefani will team with Pearce for a world premiere collaboration. And Shania Twain will receive the 2023 "CMT Equal Play Award."

The night is a fan-voted celebration of the best in country music. With four nods, Lainey Wilson is the leading nominee. Cody Johnson, Brown and Jelly Roll each have three nominations.

Yesterday, CMT revealed the Top 6 music videos that will compete for the night's top honor of Video of the Year. The finalists are Blake Shelton - "No Body"; Carrie Underwood - "Hate My Heart"; Cody Johnson - "Human"; HARDY feat. Lainey Wilson - "wait in the truck"; Kane Brown & Katelyn Brown - "Thank God"; Morgan Wallen - "You Proof." Country music fans can still vote for their favorites at vote.cmt.com.

A fan-favorite at the CMT Music Awards, Underwood is the winningest artist in CMT Music Awards show history.

Underwood is vying for her fifth consecutive Video of the Year win and 10th in the category.

If Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown win, they will be the first husband and wife duo to pick up the coveted trophy. If Shelton wins, the triumph will mark his second time capturing "Video of the Year." If Cody Johnson, HARDY, Lainey Wilson or Morgan Wallen win, it would be their first in Video of the Year.
