2023 CMT Music Awards: Watch Alanis Morissette's Fiery "You Oughta Know" Performance

Lainey Wilson, Ingrid Andress, Madeline Edwards, and Morgan Wade joined her for the 'Jagged Little Pill' jam.

"You Oughta Know" that Alanis Morissette can bring the house down — even at the CMT Music Awards.

You would usually find the "Hands Clean" singer in rock venues — or even on Broadway — but Morissette was welcomed into the world of country music tonight, helping celebrate the 10th anniversary of CMT's "Next Women of Country."

Morissette led a super girl group of country music stars including Lainey Wilson, Ingrid Andress, Madeline Edwards, and Morgan Wade, who all seemed to be living out their high school fantasies as they — and everyone else in the audience — belted out the classic Jagged Little Pill track, "You Oughta Know."

"I'm getting up there with Alanis Morissette, which is crazy," Wilson told CMT earlier this week. "I remember my friend jumping on the bed to the song and she knew every word. And I was like, 'Who is this?' And, I learned all the words, too. I was listening to Shania Twain, and I was listening to The Chicks, and stuff like that, but she introduced me to Alanis."

Edwards also couldn't believe she would be sharing a stage with Morissette, telling CMT: "This is gonna be an iconic performance one. Leslie [Fram, S.V.P. of Music & Talent, C.M.T.] was the brainchild of all this, and she's worked with Alanis for many years," Edwards continued. "She has created such a platform for women in general with the 10-year anniversary of the Next Women of Country. I think it's gonna probably be one of the coolest performances of the night, and it's really cool to be included in that. I have a lot of respect for Lainey and Ingrid and Morgan. I just came off the road with Morgan and she's a good friend of mine. All of these women are now becoming friends of mine because of this."

CMT also celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Next Women of Country" earlier this year by inducting 16 artists in its newest class – the program’s largest group of honorees to date.

As CMT previously reported, the women in the class of 2023 are: Alana Springsteen, Angie K, Ashley Cooke, Avery Anna, Carter Faith, Catie Offerman, Georgia Webster, Julie Williams, Kasey Tyndall, Kimberly Kelly, Mackenzie Carpenter, MaRynn Taylor, Megan Moroney, O.N.E The Duo, Pillbox Patti and Roberta Lea.
