2023 CMT Music Awards: Jackson Dean, Megan Moroney, Chapel Hart and More Revealed as Performers

The 2023 CMT MUSIC AWARDS will air LIVE from Austin, Texas’ Moody Center on Sunday, April 2 (8:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network

The performers list for the 2023 CMT MUSIC AWARDS just got a bit bigger.

Avery Anna, Chapel Hart, Jackson Dean, Lily Rose, Megan Moroney and Nate Smith will perform on the Ram Trucks Side Stage at the 2023 CMT MUSIC AWARDS, that will air LIVE from Austin, Texas’ Moody Center on Sunday, April 2nd (8:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.*

The group of newcomers join an already expansive list of signers at the awards show, including leading nominee Lainey Wilson, co-hosts Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown (who was previously announced with his wife Katelyn), Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Carly Pearce, Cody Johnson, and Keith Urban, who are all nominees.

Voting for the 2023 CMT MUSIC AWARDS is now open at vote.cmt.com. Additional facts to note about nominees are that there are 17 singers in the first round of fan voting for the night’s top honor - Video of the Year - including Underwood, who, with 25 wins, is the most-awarded artist in CMT history. Other nominees for the night’s top honor include: Ashley McBryde with Caylee Hammack, Brandy Clark + Pillbox Patti; Blake Shelton; Cody Johnson; Elle King + Dierks Bentley; Gabby Barrett; HARDY + Lainey Wilson; Jimmie Allen; Keith Urban; Little Big Town; Luke Bryan; Luke Combs; Morgan Wallen; Walker Hayes; Ballerini; and Kane Brown with wife, Katelyn.

CMT is expanding its Breakthrough Video of the Year category into male and female subcategories to more thoroughly celebrate country music’s new talent. There are 12 nominees across the twin categories, including Avery Anna, Kylie Morgan, MacKenzie Porter, Megan Moroney, Morgan Wade and Tiera Kennedy in Breakthrough Female. Bailey Zimmerman, Corey Kent, Drake Milligan, Jackson Dean, Jelly Roll (one of the show’s top nominees) and Nate Smith comprise the Breakthrough Male category.

There are 21 first-time nominees at this year’s show, including Avery Anna, Bailey Zimmerman, Charley Crockett, Corey Kent, Drake Milligan, Jackson Dean, Jelly Roll, Katelyn Brown, Kylie Morgan, Lukas Nelson, Megan Moroney, Morgan Wade, Nate Smith, Pillbox Patti, The War and Treaty, Tiera Kennedy, and Wynonna Judd, who receives two nominations, including one with her late mother, Naomi Judd, for their final performance together at the 2022 CMT MUSIC AWARDS. Out-of-genre artists include Black Pumas, Emmy Russell with Jake Scott, and Katy Perry, who receives her first nomination since 2015.

There is also a whole week of special programming that accompanies the 2023 CMT Music Awards.

The CMT MUSIC AWARDS will return to CMT following its inaugural broadcast on CBS with the “CMT Music Awards Extended Cut,” featuring 30 extra minutes of bonus content and never-before-seen performances on Thursday, April 6 at 8p/7c.

“CMT Storytellers” gives fans a front-row seat with behind-the-scenes access to their favorite artists and music. This 1-hour special showcases multi-platinum entertainer and 2023 CMT MUSIC AWARDS co-host KANE BROWN as he performs and shares never-before-heard stories about how his iconic hits came to be.

“CMT STORYTELLERS: DIERKS BENTLEY” – Wednesday, March 29 at 10p/9c

Multi-platform selling singer-songwriter DIERKS BENTLEY headlines the next installment of the famed music series “CMT Storytellers.” Performing a number of his classic hits including “I Hold On,” “Drunk on a Plane” and “What Was I Thinkin’” alongside songs from his latest critically-acclaimed album, “Gravel & Gold,” the intimate night filmed in downtown Nashville gives fans an insider’s look into Bentley’s chart-topping career and evolution as an artist.
