Longview, Texas, will have a higher-than-normal celebrity quotient this weekend when Las Vegas kingpin Wayne Newton and actress Bo Derek arrive for Neal McCoy’s annual East Texas Angel Network fundraiser. The event in McCoy’s hometown will also feature performances by Charley Pride, Leslie Satcher and Jack Hanna, host of the TV series, Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures. McCoy and his wife Melinda founded the non-profit charity in 1995 to help children who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. The weekend’s activities include a golf tournament and a Saturday night (Sept. 29) concert. McCoy formed a friendship with Newton and Derek during a USO tour in 2001. 09/25/02
