Ronnie Dunn Joins Oklahoma Hall of Fame

Ronnie Dunn joins a former Bob Wills sideman and a noted country music journalist as this year’s inductees into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. Before forming Brooks & Dunn with Kix Brooks, Dunn spent the early ‘80s performing in a Tulsa honky-tonk. In addition to playing in Wills’ band, guitarist Benny Garcia also worked with the Western swing pioneer’s brother, Johnnie Lee Wills, and Tex Williams. Tulsa World newspaper writer John Wooley has covered country music since 1983, chronicling the careers of Oklahoma musicians including Dunn, Garth Brooks, Toby Keith and Vince Gill. This year’s Hall of Fame inductees also include bluesmen D.C. Minner and Flash Terry and the late jazz musician, Lee Wiley. The induction ceremony is set for Nov. 20 in Muskogee. 06/26/03
