Brooks Joins Opry Lineup This Weekend For Yearwood's Grand Ole Induction

Trisha Yearwood's Grand Ole Opry induction this weekend has turned into a "Powerful Thing" just like she sings about in her current single. Opry superstar Garth Brooks has now been added to the lineup for both Saturday evening shows to participate in the induction of his good friend. Brooks, Yearwood's most famous touring partner and mentor, said of her induction, "I'm so happy for Trisha because she gets what it means to be a member, and I'm so happy for the Opry because they're getting the highest in class and quality in return. It's going to be a good marriage." Yearwood's association with Brooks dates back to 1991 when she first toured with him. They shared a Grammy nomination this year for Country Collaboration with Vocals for "Where Your Road Leads," the title cut from her current album. The two won a Grammy in 1998 for their collaboration on "In Another's Eyes." Opry legend Porter Wagoner will introduce the songstress as the Opry's newest family member during the special hour-long edition of TNN's Grand Ole Opry Live. The entire Opry show airs on WSM Radio (650 AM). Saturday's lineup also includes Opry stars Vince Gill, Marty Stuart and Ricky Skaggs, along with special guests Randy Scruggs, John Prine and Janie Fricke. Yearwood will be the first member added to the cast since Diamond Rio was inducted in April last year. The Grand Ole Opry, broadcasting's longest-running radio show, went on the air on WSM Radio on November 28, 1925, and marked its 73rd birthday last fall.
