ACM To Award Artist Of The Decade

The Academy of Country Music's "Artist of the Decade" for the 1990s will be honored on the upcoming 34th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards special airing on the CBS Television Network May 5th. The winner of the award will not be revealed until show time. The award, which has previously been presented to Alabama (1980s), Loretta Lynn (1970s) and Merle Haggard (1960s), goes to the artist deemed by the Board of Directors of the Academy of Country Music to have been the most outstanding and successful act during the 1990s, and having best exemplified, through appearances and recordings, the image of country music during this decade. Performances by country music's top entertainers are slated to make this year's awards gala one never to be forgotten.
