The Texas Commission on the Arts has named Billy Joe Shaver as the Texas State Musician. He will hold the honorary title for one year. The appointees were selected for their dedication to the arts in Texas. Shaver, who lives in Waco, is currently touring behind his new album, Tribute to Billy Joe Shaver – Live. He is joined by fellow Texas musicians Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Guy Clark, Joe Ely, Robert Earl Keen, Bruce Robison, Kelly Willis and Dale Watson on the project.
