Vincent Undergoes Surgery, Cancels August Dates

Rhonda Vincent has canceled a series of August tour dates after undergoing abdominal surgery on Aug. 2. On her official Web site, Vincent's husband and manager, Herb Sandker, explained to fans that the surgery repaired a section of her large intestine. A few days after being dismissed from the hospital, Vincent's longtime friend Dolly Parton paid a surprise visit to her Missouri home. Vincent has canceled upcoming shows in Ohio, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia but will join Ricky Skaggs in Nashville on Aug. 30 to announce this year's nominees for the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Awards. She'll return to the road Aug. 31 in Phillipi, W.Va., although she will be unable to perform two shows in California in early September because her doctor is prohibiting her from cross-country air travel. In a written statement, Vincent said, "I'm feeling stronger every day, but I do understand that I need this time to fully recuperate. I'm determined to regain my strength and energy to be able to bring the best possible show to my fans as I return to the road."
