John Schneider's General Lee Charger Sells for $9.9 Million

Actor John Schneider's personal 1969 Dodge Charger, painted to resemble the General Lee muscle car from The Dukes of Hazzard, sold Friday (May 4) on eBay Motors' Web site for $9,900,500. The vehicle was one of many used in the original TV series, and Scheider has had the car modified, including the installation of a 725-horsepower Hemi engine. The $9.9 million bid is believed to be the second-highest ever at an automobile auction. In 1987, Christie's auction house sold a 1931 Bugatti Type 41 Royale Sports Coupe, which had been owned by the Bugatti family, for $11 million. CMT DukesFest 2007 takes place June 2-3 at Nashville's Music City Motorplex. Last year's event included appearances by Schneider and other cast members and attracted an estimated 50,000 fans -- and more than 100 replicas of the General Lee.
