OFFSTAGE: Ronnie Dunn Says St. Jude Is There for the Whole Family

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Last week was the annual Country Cares for St. Jude Kids seminar in Memphis. And Ronnie Dunn was there to help kick off the whole thing, including the radiothon. (You know, the one that makes you cry when you are listening to the stories of heartbreak and hope and miracles when you are listening to your country radio?) "The parents are always the ones hit the hardest. You have to keep that in mind. But they have to be strong, and this place, St. Jude, helps. It's the way they take care of everything, the way they care for the family as a whole. It's phenomenal," Dunn said. Since the radiothon started in 1989, it has brought in more than $385 million for St. Jude. All because of the generosity of country fans and the stars that shine a light on what the hospital is doing. Randy Owen, Justin Moore, Jake Owen, Joey & Rory, Frankie Ballard and the Eli Young Band were just a few of the other country artists in Memphis to get the word out about St. Jude's promise that no child is ever turned away because of a family's ability to pay. "When I go home, I'm going to tell my wife and my kids how lucky we are to be healthy and how lucky we are to have a facility like this available to everyone," Dunn said.
