OFFSTAGE: Sara Evans, Sunny Sweeney Know When to Walk Away in Vegas

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Sara Evans has a surefire way to hang on to her money when she's in Las Vegas, like she was this past weekend for the ACM Awards. "I never, never, never gamble. I work. I just work nonstop. When I have a little break I like to go back to my room, put a blanket on, get in front of the TV and have a beer and just chill. I just need those chill, quiet moments," she told me on the red carpet Sunday (April 3) night. "Plus, I can't go down and gamble. I'd get recognized. And I get way too nervous. All those rules? If you mess up, or you say, 'Hit me' and then you say, 'Never mind,' I feel like I'm gonna get arrested." Sunny Sweeney takes a similar approach, because she's lost money before and doesn't like that feeling at all. "I play slots, usually. I just sit there like an old lady. One time, I stayed at one casino for 12 hours. And I never win anything," she said. "I'd rather spend my money on jeans or shoes."
