Fifty live performances by Johnny Cash will be collected on a new album, Bootleg 3 — Live Around the World, due Oct. 11 on Columbia/Legacy. Compiling songs culled from 10 shows, the compilation includes 39 previously-unreleased tracks. The material comes from concerts at the Big “D” Jamboree in Dallas (1956), New River Ranch in Rising Sun, Md., (1962), the Newport Folk Festival (1964), USO tour in Vietnam (1969), the White House (1970), Osteraker Prison in Sweden (1972), CBS Records Convention in Nashville (1973), Carter Family Fold in Virginia (1976), the Wheeling Jamboree in Wheeling, W.Va. (1976) and the Exit/In in Nashville (1979). The release of the two-disc collection coincides with a memoir by Cash’s son, John Carter Cash. Titled House of Cash: The Life, Legacy and Archives of the Man in Black, the book will be published by Insight Editions on Oct. 18.
