Lynyrd Skynyrd will open its first restaurant during a weeklong celebration in Las Vegas in December. Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ & Beer is located at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The celebration begins Dec. 1 with a series of live concerts and promotions leading up to the official grand opening on Dec. 8 with a luncheon attended by band members Johnny Van Zant, Gary Rossington and Rickey Medlocke. That night, the band will perform a concert at the venue. The restaurant's décor is inspired by the Hell House, the building where band members wrote songs and rehearsed material for their early albums. The walls are made of barnyard wood, with concrete floors and aged brick completing the atmosphere. The kitchen will serve food from Kreuz Market in Lockhart, Texas, which has been in business for 111 years. "With Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ & Beer, we wanted to create the kind of place that we'd like to hang out at," Van Zant said. "With Southern-style barbecue and great music, this will be the perfect spot for rock and barbecue fans to kick back and have a great time in Vegas."
