Thompson Square Cancel Appearances Following Death of Shawna Thompson's Father

Thompson Square have canceled an appearance at the Country Radio Seminar's New Faces Show in Nashville and two tour dates this weekend with Lady Antebellum following Thursday's (Feb. 23) death of Shawna Thompson's father. In a written statement issued Friday, the duo's publicist said, "It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Shawna Thompson's father George Michael 'Mickey' McIlwain passed away yesterday evening in Alabama after a valiant battle with cancer. Shawna and her family were by his side when he passed. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. We ask that you please keep both Shawna and Keifer as well as Shawna's family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time." The duo canceled Friday night's performance at the CRS New Faces show, an event that will feature Hunter Hayes, David Nail, Sunny Sweeney and the Eli Young Band. Nail will fill in for Thompson Square during Lady Antebellum's concerts Saturday in Detroit and Sunday in Evansville, Ind.
