OFFSTAGE: Jake Owen is 'EW''s Nashville Casanova

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

He's not just Jake Owen. He is the Nashville Casanova. (Or, he was. Now that Owen is engaged, he's definitely going to lose a bit of his Casanova footing.) But still, Entertainment Weekly thought enough of Owen to give him a nickname and put him on this list of the "30 Greatest Music Artists Right Now," along with country biggies like Carrie Underwood (Country Belle) and Taylor Swift (Everygirl Superstar) and alt-ish bands like Mumford & Sons (Platinum Folkies) and the Civil Wars (Americana All-Stars). EW admits being smitten with Owen's current smash hits, and they say it doesn't hurt that he looks like a lost Wilson brother. I'm also smitten with more vintage Owen, like "You Can Thank Dixie" and "Yee Haw" from 2006 and "Who Said Whiskey (Was Meant to Drink a Woman Away)" and "Every Reason I Go Back" from 2009. So if you are going to listen to what EW calls Owen's essential tracks, please add those to the list. You'll thank me.
