Tim McGraw, Jewel Release New Projects

Tim McGraw's Two Lanes of Freedom (Big Machine Records) is the blockbuster mainstream country album released this week, but several other projects have also arrived for fans of country and roots music. Jewel's Greatest Hits (Rhino) collects her hits and includes new versions of "You Were Meant for Me" (featuring the Pistol Annies) and "Foolish Games" (with Kelly Clarkson). Other notable releases include Holly Williams' The Highway (Georgiana), the SteelDrivers' Hammer Down (Rounder), John Corbett's Leaving Nothin' Behind (Funbone) and Wade Bowen's Live at Billy Bob's Texas (Smith Music Group). British singer-songwriter Richard Thompson returns with Electric (New West) recorded in Nashville with producer Buddy Miller. Mary Gauthier is celebrating the U.S. release of Live at Blue Rock (In the Black). Townes Van Zandt's Sunshine Boy: The Unheard Studio Sessions & Demos 1971-1972 (Omnivore) collects rare recordings from one of the most prolific eras of the late singer-songwriter's career.
