Sunday night’s (Feb. 10) Grammy Awards show is just one of the major events attracting music superstars to Los Angeles this weekend.
Zac Brown , Kenny Chesney , Emmylou Harris , Faith Hill , Tim McGraw , Mumford & Sons and Dixie Chicks lead vocalist Natalie Maines are among those scheduled to perform Friday night when Bruce Springsteen is honored at the 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year gala. MusiCares is the Recording Academy’s nonprofit organization that assists those in the music industry during times of need. The tribute to Springsteen is also scheduled to feature Alabama Shakes , Jackson Browne, Ben Harper, Elton John, John Legend, Mavis Staples, Sting, Eddie Vedder and Neil Young. The event will be hosted by Jon Stewart of The Daily Show.
Veteran record label executive Clive Davis will host his annual Pre-Grammy Gala on Saturday. One of the hottest tickets in town during Grammy week, the party is expected to be attended by Bruno Mars, John Mayer , the Foo Fighters and Quincy Jones, among others.
The 55th annual Grammy Awards takes place Sunday. MTV and VH1 Grammy Night Live will be streamed live on CMT.com, MTV.com, VH1.com, NewNowNext.com and Ustream, as well as on mobile and tablet devices via the MTV News app beginning at 6 p.m. ET. The awards show, hosted by LL Cool J, airs live at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
In addition to a collaboration featuring Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert , the awards show will feature performances by Kelly Clarkson , the Lumineers , Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood . Zac Brown, Mumford & Sons, Elton John, Mavis Staples and Alabama Shakes lead vocalist Brittany Howard will perform a tribute to the late Levon Helm.
