George Strait Plans Press Conference to Announce Details of Final Tour

He'll Also Serve as Dallas Cowboys' Honorary Captain During Coin Toss

George Strait is expected to announce cities and dates for the 2014 leg of the Cowboy Rides Away tour during a Monday (Sept. 9) press conference at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Strait will also be at the stadium Sunday night for the Dallas Cowboys' season opener. He will serve as an honorary captain for the coin toss prior to kickoff in the game against the New York Giants. His 2009 concert at AT&T Stadium was the first event ever held at the venue.

Strait began the Cowboy Rides Away tour earlier this year and has announced he has no plans for extensive touring after 2014.

As previously reported, Strait and MCA Nashville chief Mike Dungan recently announced plans for the singer-songwriter to record another five albums. MCA released "Unwound," his first major label single, in 1981. The Texas native has sold more than 68 million albums.

Love Is Everything, his latest album was released in May. "I Believe" was recently delivered to country radio as the new single from the project.

Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006, Strait is scheduled to receive several additional honors in November, including Billboard's Legend of Live Award in New York City. He is the first country artist named to receive the magazine's most coveted touring award. He'll also be presented ASCAP's Founders Award which honors songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators.

Monday's press conference will be streamed live at 11 a.m. CT on Strait's official website.
