"It's difficult to get really good seafood up in Arkansas," Justin Moore acknowledges. That's one of the many, many reasons he and his family just had to have a beach house.

"That's a big thing for us," he told People magazine in its new country issue. "I've literally eaten fish here 20 minutes after it was swimming around in the water."

And after he catches the fish, Moore even does the cooking.

"I'm a big cook," he says. "We spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and it was set up for that."

I should mention that this is from the man who told me years ago that his first job was selling meat door-to-door out of the back of his car.

Aside from hanging in the kitchen, Moore and his wife Kate and his little girls Ella and Kennedy love being by the pool at their place in the Florida panhandle.

Moore and his wife met when they were high school seniors vacationing in Panama City. And now, even though he didn't want a place with a pool -- because he knew he'd either have to clean it or hire a pool guy to do it -- Moore can't help but enjoy it.

"I love the ambience of being around a pool," he tells the magazine.

But the very best part of this beach retreat? No phones. No guitars. So, no distractions.

"The girls think of the beach house as 'Daddy's home,'" he says. "They don't have to share me down here. When I'm not working, it's always been important to me to get away from the business. This is another haven for me to unplug."
