You can't keep secrets from Kimberly Perry. And she doesn't do surprises.

In fact, the lead singer of The Band Perry is so savvy when it comes to keeping tabs on the goings-on in her family, she apparently almost spoiled the surprise proposal from her fianc é J.P. Arencibia of the Texas Rangers

It was a carefully-crafted fairy tale moment that took place in October on the Perry family's property in Greenville, Tenn., complete with family heirlooms, but Kimberly admits it wasn't a complete surprise.

She confessed to CMT Radio Live's Cody Alan, "I knew it was coming soon. I could tell that the family started to act funny the second half of the day."

Cue brother Reid Perry to chime in, "She was prying a little. I mean, she doesn't let surprises happen."

And just how she got to the bottom of situation is almost as crafty as the proposal itself.

"He told me he that he was gonna be on a plane, and he was coming to Greenville," she said. "We were gonna pick him up at midnight ... and I just didn't quite buy it. So I sent him a text message ... and when it goes through blue, I knew the phone was on, and I was like, 'Ah, this is happening tonight!'"

Brother Neil Perry jokes, "See? It's just not fun! We don't even try anymore. We're just gonna give her her birthday gift unwrapped."

But when asked if the family approved of Arencibia asking for his sister's hand in marriage, the youngest Perry brother said, "Yes, his check actually went through. It didn't bounce. So yes!"

Kimberly and Arencibia are reportedly hoping to tie the knot this summer, which seems like an incredibly busy time for a Major League Baseball player and one of the hottest band's in country music.

But clearly, Kimberly will know just how to make it work.
