I've been very honest about my love/hate relationship with stadium shows. And now, Tim McGraw is giving us his honest opinion.

His opinion? They are a must.

In a recent radio interview, McGraw said country music speaks to so many people, so it leads to the kind of popularity you see at the concert level.

"I think there's an approachability to country music, and I think that it sort of speaks to a large spectrum of people," he said. "I think that that's why you can see artists going out and filling up stadiums."

In Chicago alone, the sports stadiums have already played host to headliners like Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift and Brad Paisley. And this summer, Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton will be playing Soldier Field and Wrigley Field, respectively. They have essentially outgrown the local arenas and amphitheaters, so it's off to the 40,000-plus seat stadiums.

Unless, of course, they played multiple nights at a smaller arena. That's a choice only an artist can make. You could play one night in a stadium or four nights in an arena and play for the same number of fans. There must be so much that goes in to that decision, I'm glad I don't ever have to make it.

McGraw thinks the vast numbers of tickets being sold is due, in part, to a resurgence of country music.

"I can't believe the tickets that country music is selling or the success that country music is having on the radio, and I think it's because there's a realness to it," he said. "It's a connection with people that country music has that, I think, that's always been there, but it seems to be just growing exponentially.

"You know, country music doesn't get the credit a lot of times that it deserves. Of course, you've probably heard that for years."
