Chris Young Undergoes Surgery, Cancels CMA Music Festival Appearance

Kitchen Mishap Resulted in Damaged Tendons in Left Hand

Chris Young is recovering from surgery and has canceled his Saturday night (June 7) performance at the CMA Music Festival's evening concert at Nashville's LP Field.

The 28-year-old singer cut his left hand with a kitchen knife Thursday night while preparing a late dinner after returning home from hosting his annual fan club party on the General Jackson showboat. He was forced to cancel a four-hour autograph session that had been scheduled for Friday at his booth inside the Fan Fair X exhibit at the CMA festival.

Young underwent surgery at a Nashville hospital on Friday to repair damaged tendons in his hand. Released from the hospital on Saturday morning, he announced the cancelation of his performance at the stadium concert with Sara Evans, Florida Georgia Line, Little Big Town, Darius Rucker and Keith Urban. As of late Saturday afternoon, festival organizers had not announced a replacement for Young.

Young is expected to make a full recovery and resume playing guitar after a period of rehabilitation.
