John Carter Cash, son of the late Johnny and June Carter Cash, was detained by Canadian authorities after allegedly stripping down to his underwear at an airport in Newfoundland.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers were called to the Deer Lake Airport around 2 p.m. Monday (Oct. 27) after airport security personnel reported a man was either drunk or suffering from medical issues and had missed his flight.

By the time the RCMP arrived, airport personnel had convinced Cash, 44, to put his clothes back on and had determined he was drunk. However, no charges were filed, and he was allowed to board a later flight.

At the time of the incident, Cash was returning to his Nashville home following a hunting trip in Newfoundland.

In a Wednesday post on his Facebook page, Cash wrote, "I want to thank everyone in my life for the tremendous outpouring of love, support and direction over the past week. Truly, love to all no matter what."

Cash, a singer, songwriter, producer and author, is the only child of Johnny and June Carter Cash. He produced his mother's Press On album, which won a Grammy in 1999. He also served as associate producer of his father's Grammy-winning American III: Solitary Man and American IV: The Man Comes Around albums.

He owns and operates Cash Productions, LLC and the Cash Cabin Studio near Nashville.
