Well, I think it’s pretty obvious what Tim McGraw will be doing Wednesday night (Jan. 7) -- watching American Idol. Because of Keith Urban.

In a recent radio interview, McGraw had all kinds of nice things to say about Urban. And not just about what an excellent job he does at the judges’ table on the reality show, which premieres Wednesday for the 14th season.

“You know what?” McGraw said. “He’s one of my favorite people.”

But McGraw added that one of the great things about Urban is how good he looks for country music and will continue to do so every week.

“He’s a really good guy, and as far as somebody who represents country music and the face of somebody and the music of somebody that you would want out there representing what you do, he’s certainly somebody that I would want to hold up and put a light on for us,” McGraw said.

Scott Borchetta -- the president and CEO of the Big Machine Label Group, McGraw’s label home -- will be on the show, too, as a mentor this season. So he’ll be working with Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. during Hollywood Week. Then once this season’s winner is named, Borchetta will help launch his or her career.
