Carrie Underwood's Baby Name Explained

What's the Meaning Behind Isaiah Michael Fisher?

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher gave their first born son a very interesting name -- Isaiah Michael Fisher. What's the meaning behind it?

I get the "Michael Fisher" part of it, obviously. But I can't think of many other Isaiahs.

There's Isiah Thomas, the NBA star

And Isaiah Washington from Grey's Anatomy

But that's about all I've got.

So why'd they choose Isaiah? Well, as practicing Christians, it's safe to assume the proud parents choose Isaiah for its Biblical connotation.

According to nameberry.com Isaiah means "Salvation of the Lord" and was the 44th most popular name in the U.S. in 2013.

Isaiah was an important prophet of the Old Testament who lived around the 8th century B.C. who was documented in the Book of Isaiah.

He prophesied that the people of Israel would be exiled from their homeland but that God would eventually lead them back to salvation.

So maybe Underwood and Fisher feel like their son has -- in his own little way -- brought them to their own promised land?
