Shelton’s unscheduled appearance was undoubtedly a thrill for fans. Once onstage, Shelton praised Lambert, calling her “the most important country artist in music today” before launching into a performance of his first No. 1 hit “Austin.” Lambert even joined in on the ballad, singing harmony.
The Texas native seemed to be thrilled about her return trip home, describing the emotional show as a “dream come true.”

Lambert will return to the Lone Star state on April 19 to perform at the 50th annual ACM Awards held in Arlington, Texas. The five-time ACM female vocalist of the year leads the list of nominees with eight nominations, including one for entertainer of the year.
