Granger Smith Hospitalized After Stage Fall

Cancels Weekend Appearances

Granger Smith has been admitted to a trauma center in Brunswick, New Jersey, after crashing off the stage mid-show at Sayreville’s Starland Ballroom on Friday night (Dec. 2).

Video footage online shows that Smith was standing on a monitor when it gave way, causing him to crash off the stage and into a metal barricade. He managed to finish his set, which ended with his first No. 1 “Backroad Song.”

After visiting a nearby emergency room, Smith was transferred to a Level 1 trauma center with two completely separated, broken ribs and a punctured and partially collapsed lung.

According to a press release, the latest reports are encouraging, and Smith hopes to get back soon to his family in Texas to recover.

“I took a pretty hard spill last night in Jersey,” he tweeted this morning (Dec. 3). “Thanks for the well wishes! Y’all mean the world to me. I’ll be out of the hospital and 100% soon!”

Saturday's concert in Raleigh, North Carolina, is canceled. Further information about subsequent shows will be forthcoming.
