CMT Premiere: Chris Housman Hopes LBGTQ+ Community Feels Seen After Watching "Guilty As Sin" Video

Chris Housman: “To me, the video really brings the hook lyrics, ‘Baby, if loving you is wrong, then I’m guilty as sin’ to life."

LGBTQ+ country artist Chris Housman brings his song “Guilty As Sin” to life with his new video directed and produced by Ford Fairchild.

Housman, a Kansas native, said Fairchild came up with the idea of showing the singer and a same sex partner falling in love, slow dancing and undressing each other.

“I was a tad nervous going into my first time having to act in a music video,” Housman said. “But our friend, Gabe LaDuke, who played my romantic interest, was so great and easy to work with. I remember having a hard time on more serious parts because he was cracking so many jokes!”

Housman wrote the song with Nell Maynard and Brandon Meagher. Jerry Fuentes produced it.

“To me, the video really brings the hook lyrics, ‘Baby, if loving you is wrong, then I’m guilty as sin’ to life,” he said. “I think it not only tells via the song but also shows that an undeniable connection between two people is always a beautiful thing.”

Housman said he was floored when he saw the music video for the first time and hopes it makes other members of the LBGTQ+ community feel seen in a way they haven’t before by a country music video.

“As someone who grew up glued to the TV watching music videos but didn’t see a lot queer love stories in country music, being to create one myself means the world to me,” he said. “I hope anyone walks away with an ‘awww’ feeling by the end of the video.”
