Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes Featured on Elvis Duets Album

Carrie Underwood and LeAnn Rimes weren't yet born when Elvis Presley died in 1977, but they're just two of the country artists who will be featured singing with the King on Elvis Presley Christmas Duets, a new album being created as a partnership between Elvis Presley Enterprises and Sony BMG Music Entertainment. Set for release on Oct. 14, the project will also feature Sara Evans, Gretchen Wilson, Anne Murray, Wynonna and Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman. Martina McBride adds her voice to Presley's most famous holiday hit, "Blue Christmas." According to a press release, Sony BMG used advanced audio technology for the album. For songs that were originally recorded as a single mono track, new musical beds were created to match the instrumentation from the '50s. On later recordings made on multi-track tape where Presley's voice is isolated on a single track, segments of his vocals were removed to allow for the new overdubs. Sample tracks will be previewed Aug. 14 during the 2008 Elvis Week in Memphis, Tenn.
