Jason Aldean Celebrates Three No. 1 Singles

"We Were Just Cutting the Best Songs at That Point,”" He Tells 'CMT Hot 20 Countdown'

Jason Aldean took celebrating No.1 success to a whole other level this week as family, friends, and co-writers joined the superstar in Nashville to recognize his three latest chart toppers -- “Burnin’ It Down,” “Just Gettin' Started” and “Tonight Looks Good on You.”

This is a first for me,” he told CMT Hot 20 Countdown. “We’ve had a good year.”

So far, all of the singles from his Old Boots, New Dirt album have topped the country charts, and Aldean admits the project was a change of pace for fans more accustomed to the Georgia native’s high energy, up-tempo vibe. The success proves the change was a positive move.

“For some reason on this record, we had a hard time finding big-up tempos that have really been the staple of my career up to now,” he said. “We just weren’t finding them. They just weren’t there, and the ones we did find they just weren’t quite right.

“But then we had all these really cool songs like ‘Burnin’ It Down’ and ‘Tonight Looks Good on You.’ Things like that were coming in, so we were just kind of cutting the best songs at that point. … I remember going into the label and was just like, ‘Here’s the album, and here’s the first three singles.’”

Aldean’s Burn It Down tour continues through the end of October.
