Dolly Parton is an inspiration to so many generations, and that is not lost on her.

In this video for Cracker Barrel's Front Porch series, Parton sits down on the one of the restaurant’s iconic front porches, and talks about how much it all means to her.

“It touches me that some of you younger artists say that I’ve been sort of an inspiration,” Parton admits to country newcomer Cam.

And when Cam asks Parton what is inspiration for her, and if her songwriting muscle feels any different after so many successful years in country music, Parton tells her she can still make a song out of anything.

“I really love to write," Parton says. "Everything’s a song to me. Everything’s a rhyme. It’s amazing to me how we do manage as songwriters to say the same old thing.”

That’s also what Parton hopes is her legacy.

“I’d like for my songs to be remembered,” she says, “and that I took my work very seriously. I’d like to be remembered as a decent person in this business.”
