When Maren Morris walks into a meet-and-greet to hang out with her fans before a show, it's a powerful and emotional moment for everyone.

“That’s the whole point is just to bring people together in a really positive way, and laugh together and cry together and just be connected through a simple thing of a few chords," Morris told Billboard Country Update.

"I consider it an honor.”

Among Morris' fans is Kelsea Ballerini. The two new country stars are nominated in the best new artist category at the upcoming Grammy awards. “It’s really easy to get competitive, but I’m a fan of hers, and she told me that she’s a fan of mine. It’s really cool to be able to root each other on, even though we’re the new girls," Ballerini said.

Up next for Morris is just more of the same, and she can't wait to get started on album No. 2.

“There’s no grace period between album one and album two. But I have some time set aside in a couple of months to really sit down and start writing again. There’s a lot of life left in Hero, and a tour, so I’m taking it one day at a time.

"The songs will come as they come, and I’m excited because I haven’t gotten to be really creative in a while. I’m excited to get back and do what I do and just write a song," she said.
