Taylor Swift Thanks Country Radio With a Special Concert in Nashville

Compared to her sold-out arena shows filled with thousands of screaming teenaged fans, Taylor Swift played to a much smaller, more subdued and predominantly older audience Wednesday night (Feb. 24) at the Nashville Convention Center. She served as this year's headliner at the Music City Jam, a highlight of the Country Radio Seminar that continues through Friday (Feb. 26) in downtown Nashville. The event is sponsored each year by the Academy of Country Music. Performing to an industry crowd comprised primarily of radio programmers from throughout the nation, she reminisced about the early days when her label, Big Machine Records, was just launching and didn't have interns to handle routine office chores. She recalled working with her mother to insert CDs into envelopes to mail her first single to country radio stations in hopes of getting someone to play her music. Thanking the programmers for their support, Swift and her full band offered a solid set of her hits. Julianne Hough and Gloriana, the surprise guests for the evening, performed two songs each. During the concert, Big Machine Records chief Scott Borchetta presented Swift with a gigantic plaque signifying total sales of 10 million albums. View photos from Music City Jam.
