Maren Morris Raises $100,000+ For Trans Charities with "Lunatic" Shirt

Tucker Carlson recently called Maren Morris a "lunatic country music person" on television for supporting the trans community

Maren Morris has never been afraid to share her beliefs. When Tucker Carlson called her a lunatic after she disputed Brittany Aldean and supported the trans community – Morris took it a step further.

She had shirts made that read "lunatic country music person," which is what Carson called her on television. Morris included the telephone number for Trans Lifeline, peer support and crisis hotline for trans youth.

All proceeds from the sale of the shirt will be split between Trans Lifeline and the Glaad Transgender Media Program. So far, the shirts have raised over $100,000.

Many from the country music community chimed in with their support. Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild commented with clapping hands. Morgane Stapleton said she ordered one and added a heart. Lindsay Ell called the shirt incredible and Cassadee Pope, who joined Morris in her public disdain of Aldean's comments, wished for a slow clap emoji.

The drama began last month when Morris spoke against Aldean after she said, "I'd really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life."

Morris called Aldean, wife of Jason Aldean, a "scumbag human" and suggested she, "Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie."

Aldean responded with a hot pink clothing line with shirts that read, "Don't tread on our kids."

Following Brittany Aldean's comments, Jason Aldean's longtime publicity company dropped him as a client.

Tyne Parrish, co-owner of Green Room PR, told Billboard the company wasn't the best place for Aldean anymore. The comments weren't mentioned as the reason for the split.

"We aren't the best people for the gig anymore but will always be big fans of his music," Parrish said. "He is one of the greatest live entertainers in country music."
