Kimberly Perry Announces Pregnancy, Solo Career

Kimberly Perry: “As a woman and as an artist, I’ve always felt like I had to make a choice between growing my career and growing life.”

Kimberly Perry is full of surprises.

Perry, a Grammy-winning singer who made a name for herself with The Band Perry, recently revealed the trio was taking a hiatus and she is going solo.

Then Thursday, she announced that she and her husband are expecting their first child.

“The best news of all the good news lately,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m OVERFLOWING WITH JOY to share that Johnny and I are expecting our first baby in late August!! We’re absolutely beside ourselves with happiness and in awe of the Creator’s plan.”

Perry, known for songs including “If I Die Young,” “DONE” and “Better Dig Two,” wrote that building her own family was something she’s dreamed about for as long as she can remember.

“As a woman and as an artist, I’ve always felt like I had to make a choice between growing my career and growing life,” she said. “But YALL - I’m doin’ em both at the SAME TIME!! Here we go! 🤍🤍🫶🫶”

Perry promised to keep fans updated on her new bundle as her pregnancy progresses.

“Can’t wait to celebrate this new life with all of you and to welcome this little bundle of love to our world,” she said.

Perry’s baby news comes on the heels of The Band Perry’s March 27 announcement that members “decided to take a creative break as a group and each focus on our individual creative pursuits.”

“During this season, we will continue to support each other as artists and family in all we do,” the post said. “Thank you for making our childhood dreams come true.”

Soon after, Perry revealed she had teamed with Warner Chappell Music and Songs & Daughters for her publishing and that RECORDS Nashville would be her record label home.

“A good home nurtures you, comforts you, and helps you grow by challenging your ideas while still supporting your dreams,” Perry wrote on Instagram. “That’s what @recordsco is for me and my solo voice. I feel so seen - finally. 🙏 I love you all! Can’t wait for you to hear what I’ve been feeling, and learning, and experiencing. Maybe we can all sing about it together soon?⠀⠀⠀

“Thank you for leaving the light on for me.”
