Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker, Jimmie Allen and More Grieve Leslie Jordan's Death, Share Memories

Leslie Jordan, beloved comedian, actor and country collaborator, died on Monday.

While comedian and actor Leslie Jordan wasn't most known for his ties to country music, the outpouring of love and loss from the country music community after Jordan unexpectedly died on Monday indicates his deep and personal ties to Nashville, the genre and its people.

Jordan, a Tennessee native, teamed with artists including Dolly Parton, Eddie Vedder, Tanya Tucker, Chris and Morgane Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Ashley McBryde, T.J. Osborne, Charlie Worsham and Katie Pruitt to make his gospel album "Company's Comin'" last year. He died Monday following a car crash in Hollywood, California, sources confirmed to the Los Angeles Times.

Jordan was 67 years old. He was most known for his role as Beverly Leslie in the TV show "Will and Grace," for which he won a primetime Emmy in 2006.

Jordan was pronounced dead at the scene. The Times reports that it isn't known if Jordan was killed in the crash or suffered a medical emergency but that the vehicle's condition suggests he lost control of the car before the crash.

In addition to "Will & Grace," Jordan also appeared in "American Horror Story," "The Help," "Ski Patrol" and TV shows including "Murphy Brown," "Ugly Betty," and "Boston Public."

But country music is remembering him for his loving and accepting spirit, his open heart and all of the laughs he brought to every room. Artists including Parton, Tucker, Worsham, Brothers Osborne, Lady A's Hillary Scott, Sara Evans, Worsham, Randy Houser and more shared their love for Jordan on social media.

Parton said she was "as hurt and shocked as if I have lost a family member."

"Leslie and I had a special bond," she said. "I think the world felt they had a special bond with him."

Tanya Tucker wrote that "the laughter has died along with my funny funny friend."

"I'm taking some time off the road in another country and I feel so far away on this very sad day," she said. "It's impossible to have any joy or laughter in a place where people come to do Just That. Smiles, cheerful beautiful memories, songs and dancing… Today there are none."

Jimmie Allen: "LJ Rest In Love brother. Thanks for the talks and the 6am texts. You brought a smile to so many people. ♠️"

Chapel Hart said there are no words and that they felt sparks from the moment they locked eyes with Jordan.

"You couldn’t tell we all hadn’t been friends for 20 yrs!!!" they said. "But I imagine that was @thelesliejordan with ANYONE he encountered!"

Worsham said he believes God put Leslie on this earth to use that light to open people’s hearts and minds because that’s exactly what he witnessed every time he was in Jordan's presence.

Brothers Osborne: "Rest in peace you sweet sweet man. You left a fullness in people’s hearts, a smile on their faces, and joy in their souls. We’ll meet again in the sweet by and by, Leslie."

Ernest said that he only recently got to know Jordan but that the actor "loved Nashville and country/ gospel music so much. He brought joy to millions of folks."

Like Ernest, Sara Evans said she only recently got to know Jordan but called him "so kind and funny and authentic!"

Randy Houser said the comedian was a "beautiful light in the world."

Scott said she interviewed Jordan for her Country Faith Radio and that  "there is arguably no one who was a brighter more comedic light in such an unsteady and scary time."

"Goodness gracious I’m sad," she said. "Lord be near his family and friends and give them comfort. 💔"
