CMT Premiere: Reyna Roberts Celebrates Outlaw Country With Fiery Video "Miranda"

Reyna Roberts explains: “You have two country outlaws in love and on the run with their friends, ready to take on whatever comes their way.”

Reyna Roberts took inspiration from a wide range of musical influences when recording her new album “Bad Girl Bible Vol. 1” including Miranda Lambert.

Roberts’ song “Miranda” is a nod to the country superstar, and she couldn’t be happier with the way the song and video turned out.

“This video is a perfect representation of outlaw country, which is what ‘Miranda’ is all about,” she said. “You have two country outlaws in love and on the run with their friends, ready to take on whatever comes their way.”

Roberts wrote the song with Kendall Brower and David Mescon and co-produced the song with Mescon. She co-produced the video with Mark Gonzalez, who also directed the music video.

“I have a specific vision, and Mark was perfect,” she said. “He helped bring my vision to life. He understood the story I wanted to portray, and I wouldn’t have this amazing video if it weren’t for him and his crew.”

She also wouldn’t have her “Miranda” mini-movie without her friends.

“I’ve known Nautica since third grade and met Ayla and Yonel the year I graduated from high school,” she said. “There was a moment at the end of filming our fire scene when Jennings (the male lead) realized his sister Kendall’s voice was in the song. (She’s a co-writer on the song, and she’s singing harmonies, and you can hear her say, 'We’ve got two suspects on the run'). It was awesome to see his face light up.”

Roberts said she watched all the video content for a week before they started editing the video together – a process she undertook with her friend Yonel Cohen (Finders Entertainment).

“I created about percent of the storyline and chose the location, visuals, the cast, and was really proud of what we all accomplished,” she said. “And Mark Gonzalez was an amazing director.”

She hopes the “Miranda” music video takes viewers on an adventure.

“I want viewers to feel like they’re on the run with us,” she said. “My goal is for people to have an experience when watching the video and to be inspired. My goal is always to inspire people!”
