"American Idol" Duo Kat & Alex Call It Quits On Marriage and Joint Career

Kat & Alex: “Life isn’t always a perfectly straight road, and we are learning every day how to navigate it.”

American Latino country duo Kat & Alex are calling it quits on their marriage and joint career.

In a message posted on their social media accounts on Monday, Kat Luna and Alex Georgia shared that with heavy hearts, they have mutually decided to part ways musically and romantically after four years together.

“We are so incredibly grateful for the time God has given us together, with not only each other but with y’all,” they wrote. “Life isn’t always a perfectly straight road, and we are learning every day how to navigate it.”

The couple first saw each other at a Florida church in 2019, reconnected on social media, and later met in a South Florida park. A short while later, they briefly appeared on “American Idol” in 2020, moved to Nashville that summer, got engaged, signed with Sony Music Nashville and were married in early 2021 in a barn wedding near Nashville.

They recently finished a tour with The War & Treaty and have popular songs, including “How Many Times,” “You and the Radio” and “I Want It All.” The duo’s popularity grew when they started singing in Spanish and English – originals and cover songs.

The former couple said they hold “nothing but love” for each other in their hearts and asked for support and understanding as they rebuild their personal and professional lives.

“Although we will not be doing music together as Kat & Alex, we will be pursuing our dreams individually as Kat Luna and Alex Georgia,” they wrote. “It would mean the world to us to have your continued support on our individual journeys.”
