OFFSTAGE: Crossroads Cuisine: Chocolate Gravy, Veggie Pizza and Pepsi Pork Sliders

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Super Bowl ... schmuper bowl. I know that Americans are gearing up to eat 11 million pounds of chips, 9 million slices of pizza, more than a million chicken wings and about 325 million gallons of beer on Sunday (Feb. 5). But I think it's safe to say that country fans will just be eating their CMT Crossroads leftovers on Sunday. In case you haven't heard, CMT Crossroads: Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood Live From Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam debuts on CMT on Saturday (Feb. 4) at 11 p.m. ET/PT.

Here is what I have planned for my Saturday (Feb. 4) night Crossroads cuisine:

In honor of Carrie Underwood's first CMT Crossroads ever, I think viewers should plan their menus accordingly. Underwood told me in an interview once that she loves chocolate gravy and biscuits, and luckily, that is very easy to make. Even for a crowd. Just throw a couple of tubes of Pillsbury Biscuits (the fluffy ones, not flaky) in the oven, and while they are baking, heat one stick of butter, one cup of sugar, a half cup of cocoa, 3 tablespoons of flour and 3 cups whole milk in a saucepan over medium heat until melted. Pour over hot biscuits.

I also know Underwood likes pizza, but only when it's topped with spinach, olives, onions and bell peppers. That, too, is very easy to make or order for delivery. If you decide to honor Tyler with your menu, consider a New York-style thin pizza, since that was probably a staple of his youth growing up in Yonkers, N.Y.

And one last recipe of my own. I call these Pepsi pork sliders. Early in the day, put a pork roast in a slow cooker with salt and pepper. Pour two cans of Pepsi and one bottle of your favorite barbeque sauce over it. Let that cook all day. And when CMT Crossroads starts, serve forkfuls of pork on mini burger buns.

To drink? That's obvious. Anything mentioned in an Underwood song. Fruity little drinks and/or Jose Cuervo.
