Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Feb. 5) in Sarepta, La., for Aaron Doyle Adkins, 71, father of Trace Adkins.

The elder Adkins died Saturday in Bossier City, La. A lifelong resident of the Sarepta area, he retired after a 47-year career with the International Paper Container Division in nearby Springhill, La.

Trace Adkins entered an alcohol rehab treatment facility in Florida on Jan. 15 following a verbal altercation with a celebrity impersonator on a country music-themed cruise of the Caribbean. According to news reports, he was allowed to leave the rehab center to return to Louisiana when his father's condition worsened.

Aaron Adkins is also survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Carraway Adkins, son Clay Adkins, a sister, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
