The Eagles Announce Retirement, Reveal Final Tour

The Eagles’ The Long Goodbye Final Tour with special guest Steely Dan will launch on Sept. 7 in New York City.

The Eagles are calling it quits, the band announced on social media on Thursday.

The post said that after “a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds,” the group revealed its “swan song.”

The Eagles’ The Long Goodbye Final Tour with special guest Steely Dan will launch on Sept. 7 in New York City and currently concludes Nov. 17 in St. Paul, Minnesota. The line-up for the final tour is Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey.

Tickets go on sale Friday, July 14, at 10 a.m. local time.

“Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years,” the post said. “We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle.”

The post continued that the farewell tour was in the planning stages and that the group wanted to give all of its fans a chance to see them one more time. Scheduling information will be released as dates are confirmed, and the group may return to certain cities more than once on the tour to meet demand.

“We hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up,” the post concluded. “Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12, for all announced shows.

Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster, www.ticketmaster.com.
