Is country singer Craig Campbell trading his microphone for a pot of coffee and politics?

Campbell, known for songs including "Outskirts of Heaven" and "Family Man," opened Grindstone Cowboy, a coffee house near his home in Eagleville, Tennessee, with his wife earlier this year. Now he's been elected to the City Council in the small Middle Tennessee community.

"Opening Grindstone Cowboy was a dream come true for (wife) Mindy and me and working with the great folks in Eagleville as we went through the process of pulling permits, renovating the building, and getting the business up and running was fascinating…and a ton of work," Campbell said. "I'm grateful for the support we've received and really wanted to get involved with what goes on with the city, so I decided to run for city council…and won!"

Campbell is one of five city council members who will join the mayor and vice mayor in overseeing their town's budgeting, planning and citizen concerns.

The Campbell family opened Grindstone Cowboy in the town about an hour outside of Nashville earlier this year. They planned to focus on coffee and other drinks but soon grew their menu and started hosting shows. Canaan Smith, Trent Harmon, and others have sold out the space and Adam Sanders will play there January 13 wither former Lonestar frontman Richie McDonald set for February 2.

However, Campbell isn't walking away from the recording studio. He's currently releasing singles on his Grindstone Records label, is producing new artists and recently released a version of "Mary Did You Know" with his daughters Preslee and Kinni.

 Campbell plans to release more new music in 2023.
