Dierks Bentley And Jimmie Allen Are Set To Compete In All-Star Pickleball Tournament

CBS' celebrity "Pickled" match will air Thursday, November 17, at 9 p.m. ET.

Country music sensations Dierks Bentley and Jimmie Allen will soon exchange their microphones for pickleball paddles.

CBS Sports drafted Bentley and Allen to participate in a two-hour comedy special, slated to air on Thursday, November 17, from 9 to 11 p.m. ET. The highly anticipated competition will also be available on Paramount+ and to stream live.

The "Pickled" tournament will be hosted by Emmy Award-winning late-night personality Stephen Colbert and include appearances from 16 notable celebrities. The long-running roster includes – Jimmie Allen, Dierks Bentley, Murray Bartlett, Jaime Camil, Will Ferrell, Max Greenfield, Luis Guzman, Phil Keoghan, Daniel Dae Kim, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tig Notaro, June Diane Raphael, Kelly Rowland, Paul Scheer, Aisha Tyler, and Emma Watson.

Each A-lister will be battling it out for the coveted "Colbert Cup." The finger-biting rivalry will benefit the nonprofit, Comic Relief U.S. In partnership with Colbert and production company Funny or Die, the organization is set to raise money and awareness for homelessness.

"'Pickled' supports programs aimed at breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty, focusing on the impact of homelessness, rootlessness, and lack of safety often experienced by children and families living in poverty," wrote the official Comic Relief website.

Broadcast journalist Cari Champion, Bill Raftery, and John Michael Higgins will serve as announcers and commentators during the charity event. Advertiser Claussen Pickles, associated with the Kraft Heinz Company, is holding "The Claussen Crunch Time-Halftime Show." The mid-game break will feature sports analysts breaking down game highlights and memorable moments from the first half. Pickles will be on-site for players and spectators to chow down.

The "Gold" singer turned to social media Monday (October 31) afternoon to express his excitement and to get sports fans fired up.

"Game face. ✔️ It's almost time to take on the competition for @comicreliefus. Get #PICKLED on November 17 on @cbstv," Bentley wrote alongside a promo graphic.

Members of the country community and A-listers ran to comments to cheer on the hitmaker and to show their support.

"Epic," said Lindsay Ell. "Boy, my fomo just nailed me," shared critically acclaimed actor Garrett Hedlund. "Looking forward to this," added a follower.

The pastime is currently growing in popularity, as it's a social sport that individuals of all ages can play. Pickleball is similar to tennis, ping pong, and even badminton. According to the Sports and Fitness Industry Association, there are over 4.8 million pickleball players in the United States and grew nearly 40 percent since 2019 – 2021.

Some of country music's biggest stars, such as Maren Morris and Jake Owen have shared their love for pickleball while on tour. In fact, the songstress dubbed herself the "Pickle Ball Queen" over the summer on her Humble Quest Tour

The upcoming match will also include a must-see duet of the national anthem by Colbert and singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins

"If you love pickleball and you love celebrities, and you love helping people, you're going to love watching these celebrities help people by playing pickleball," concluded Colbert.
