Decoding Miranda Lambert's Dogs

When you're a dog lover, your dogs are part of your family, and each has its own personality just like each person in your family does. That's why it's so easy for Miranda Lambert to analyze her dogs' psyches, like she does in the recent People magazine special country issue.

First up is Delta Dawn. She is a Chihuahua-pug mix. She's 4 years old. She's friendly with Carrie Underwood's dog Ace. She is daddy Blake Shelton's favorite. And she's a thief.

"If you leave your purse open, she will steal all your gum and mints," Lambert said.

Nothing wrong with a dog who wants fresh breath, though, right?

Lambert also said Delta is into lettuce and tomatoes, which is likely a result of her Sonic drive-in days. That's where Lambert found her when she was in the drive-thru picking up a diet cherry lemonade.

"She looked up with a big ol' 'HELP' look," Lambert recalled. "When I brought her home, Blake said, 'What the hell is that, a fruit bat?'"

Cher is Lambert's other big love. She is a 3-year-old deer Chihuahua. She's kind of a diva. She sleeps until noon. And her favorite hobby is to ride on Delta Dawn's back. This tiny treasure was at an Oklahoma animal shelter Lambert was visiting, and she took her home the same day she met her.

"I named her Cher because the idea was for my mother-in-law and me to 'share' custody of her," Lambert said. "But I'm not very good at sharing Cher."
