The mayor of Key West, Fla., will proclaim a country song as the island's official song on April 30 during the Key West Songwriters Festival. James Slater's "Key West Address" was inspired by the laidback lifestyle of the island. Slater's hits include Martina McBride's "In My Daughter's Eyes." The 13th annual festival will be held April 30-May 4. Highlights include a street concert featuring the Jeffrey Steele Band and Robert Earl Keen on May 3.
