Jessi Colter, wife of the late Waylon Jennings, is teaming with their son, Shooter, and Margo Price, to release her new album "Edge of Forever" on Oct. 27.

Price produced the 10-song project, and Jennings mixed it. "Edge of Forever" is the follow-up to 2017's Lenny Kaye-produced "The Psalms." The collection has songs including never-before-heard tunes that Colter and her late husband wrote during the outlaw era in the 1970s, sheet music found in an old briefcase, newer gospel-influenced songs and collaborations with her daughter, Jenni Eddy Jennings.

Colter recorded with Price's band, and the album was recorded over several days in Nashville. The album is her 13th.

"It was really sheer enjoyment for me to be able to do because I really hadn't planned anything much further," Colter said. "'Edge of Forever' is a love project."

Price added: "When the force of nature that is Jessi Colter rolled into my life and picked me up in her Mercedes convertible, I knew I was in for a wild ride," she said. "When I felt lost, I could call on her, and she would pray for me - with me. Jessi has such a strong faith; it's inspiring to be near her. When she sang 'Standing on the Edge of Forever' and 'Angel in the Fire' back to back for me, I was blown away. It was such refined writing, the work of someone who had been continuously, quietly honing her craft. I knew she had to make another album and told her I would love to be a part of that experience."

"Standing on the Edge of Forever" is Colter's first new single in six years.

"Edge of Forever," her 13th album, ushers in a new chapter for Colter as she released it the same year that she returned to the stage and remarried. 

Price jumped on Colter's social media post to share her support.

"So proud of this one," Price commented on a photo of the album cover. "Beyond excited to share it with the world. Love you Jessi!"
